Which fertilizer do I need?
- NPK 15-15-15 contains equal parts nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P) and potassium (K). For maize, NAERLS recommends about 6 bags per hectare at planting.
- Urea (46% nitrogen) is used for top dressing. For maize, about 2 bags per hectare, 4–5 weeks after planting.
- NPK 20-10-10 has more nitrogen. Some IITA guidance uses it at planting for maize instead of 15-15-15.
The right choice depends on your crop and soil. Read the full maize fertilizer guide, or ask an agronomist about a soil test.
